You asked this already in the Warrior subforum. The answer they gave you is pretty general as to why every professions chooses to not go for minor runes over superiors. Considering the role of the Monk, I would say that it's even more important for them to be alive, and so slashing their health for a few extra points of heals isn't worth putting the Monk in great danger.
The only reason that some builds for PvE would warrant the use of a major or superior rune is to get one extra strike of adrenaline, or one extra point of energy, or similar functions that the build would otherwise be one attribute level behind from reaching.

Well I like sup runes on eles cuz they do nice damage with it +60HP from a Staff and +50 from vigor and you can go
I always use sup runes on my ele, monks are major or minor depending on the staff and other atribs (even sup headpieces for maintaining), for wars I'd go sup for more damage (they got survability), I'd go sup on ranger, major or minor on para, derv, sin, mez, sup on necro

Um on my Ele i have 3 x sup runes for each attribute (on different headsets ofc, for when im running either earth, air, or fire.) and i still have roughly 580 with a +60 staff, and 550 when i have +30staff with more energy.
so its not all bad, but for warriors, or anything frontline, i have +2 and try to have 600ish health same for my monk.
of primary attributes this is what i usually stick to
Ranger + 2
Monk + 2
Paragon + 1
Assassin + 1
Dervish + 1
Warrior + 1
Of non primary attributes i stick to
Necro D-magic +3 or if im using curses, then +2 same for blood.
Ele any-magic +3
But basically im saying, if your a caster and confident you can stay out of battle +3, if your the main target, but with the important roll, then +2 (monk) if your a frontliner then +1.

My monk's permanently on minor runes + survivor insig. Save for, of course, sup vigor.
Dead monks don't heal. (Or prot.)
EDIT: I think definitely different professions will give you different answers. I know my necro has a Sup Death Magic rune for when she decides to go MM.
...and on a rather OT note: laksa, your name keeps making me hungry. Why does it have to be two of my favourite foods? ;_;

I know the threads i posted might be similar. This is because when i polled random people in the gw community(in game) their reviews are very different for each profession. This thread is intended to be from a monk's prospective and the other from a warrior's prospective. I understand everyone is concern but i have no intention of creating unnecesary confusion. Thank you for your kind understanding and information. I hope to see more postings.

Is the -75 hp for a sup rune worth it? What about -35 hp for a major rune? What do most of you guys use for general PVE (Do not quote farming builds with delibrate life reduction).

I do not like the loss of health points. In my terms, health should always be at the very least 500 points. More often than not, my armor consists of mainly Minor Runes. If I'm desperate for some attribute points, I go for Major Runes. I never use Superior Runes (other than Superior Vigor) on a PvE character. This is because the -75 loss of HP is never really worth say a few points of damage/heal/time. You're better off running two Major Runes on separate attributes (with -70 HP loss).

Minor Runes for general play, hands down.
In my casting set I have 480 (base lvl 20 hp) + 40 (full Survivor insignias) + 50 (Sup Vigor Rune) + 10 (Vitae Rune) for a total of 580hp. When I swap to my defense set, it boosts that by a further +60 for a total of 640hp, along with +8ar from my shield. Your job is to prevent your team from dying, and if you are running around with 505hp in your casting set and 565hp in your defensive set, you have less of an hp buffer to survive some of the tougher fights you are going to encounter.
I use Superiors only to Farm, either as a 55 or a Smiter. Other than that, it's too important for me to stay alive as long as possible and keep my team taken care of for me to waste my time with Sup Runes for Attributes as a Monk.

Use -HP runes only if you think you can stay alive in where you are going.

I've used to use superior runes years ago. Then I've swapped them with majors and now I'm using minors. In the beginning I've had more energy and less health but as time went by I've been increasing my health and lowering my energy.

As monk I've long played with superior runes because I could.
There ain't many places in PvE where you can get into real trouble with superiors and a decent team.
But after switching to minors my builds are as effective as they were with superiors or required only small changes.
So in the end: use to pass breakpoints or major/superior are not important.

If you are going to post, keep the discussion in line with the OP - laksa was nice enough to clarify once people started talking about profs other than Monk. Please keep your points on track, about Monks, nothing else.

I use minor runes in both pve and pvp on my monk. Its just not worth it especially if DP starts piling up.

I have found it all depends on your play style and skill. All of my PvE characters use a Superior attribute rune, even my Monk. I don't use Survivor insignias on anything but my Warrior. I normally have 455-485 health depending on the weapon mods. Monk I usually have a +30 weapon to hit 485. I know some people are not able to stay alive using this kind of set up, but I am. Normally I am the 6th person to die if there is a party wipe.
I even use Superior runes on heroes. I never bought runes, but some of my characters had good drops, so my MM gets Superior Death, most of my Ele's have a Superior Air/Fire/Earth, etc. Warriors usually get a minor only, but several use Major instead. My Monk heroes usually have a Superior Heal/Prot + Minor Divine, or a Major Heal/Prot + Major Divine.
I'm even bold enough to put a Major Soul Reaping as well as a Superior Death on my hero MM. Livia is usually the last alive, so I'm not worried about her -110 health.
In short, it depends on your play style and skill.

Here's something to consider. Which is preferable:
A 40/40 set and a minor rune = better chance of fast cast/recharge, less damage. Even health.
A +60 health staff (20% recharge inherent, 20% casting time inscription), superior rune = less chance of fast cast/recharge, more damage, -15 net heath (not that significant)
